They can flock in such huge numbers that they have been known to break the boughs of trees while roosting.

Week 2013-41: Instant island!
An aerial photo shows an island about 60 to 70 feet high that emerged off the Pakistan coast as a result of seismic activity. The surface is covered in dead fish and is a mixture of mud, sand and rock. It is solid enough for people to walk on. Boats can be seen surrounding the island.

According to Your Shot contributor Priyanka Telang, performers and organizers work hard to preserve the ancient dance, "a dramatic presentation of the events of Lord Krishna's childhood days."
In the scene pictured, Lord Krishna celebrates Holi with friends, mostly female. "All the roles are played by male artists dressed up in female costumes," writes Telang. "Being a part of it and watching it live is one of the most wonderful and spiritual experiences—you are spellbound and everything in the world around you disappears … "
