Dehaze: the latest addition to Lightroom CC June 15 Release

Haze has ruined your photo? You had a winning shot but the bad weather that day made it a flat image. Don't worry, Adobe engineers have added a new slider in Adobe Camera Raw 9.1 and Lightroom CC (June 2015 Release) that will bring back clarity to your image.

This new feature helps eliminate fog and haze from photos to create “startlingly clear images.” Here’s a before-and-after comparison showing what it can do:

"The algorithm is based on a physical model of how light is transmitted, and it tries to estimate light that is lost due to absorption and scattering through the atmosphere." Adobe says.

What’s also interesting is that the slider could be moved left and right to either remove or add haze depending on what you are seeking to achieve in your scene.

  • For the best results, you need to set the white balance before using Dehaze.
  • If you pushed the slider to one of the extremes, consider refining the Global Adjustments under Basic panel (increase the shadow detail or refining the Vibrance slider) in order to achieve the exact look that you’re after.

The Dehaze slider is found under Effects in the Develop Module. Go ahead, update your Lightroom CC and try it out. Waiting for your comments below!
